THE ARTIST


"After weaving artistic works for more than 28 years, I still strive to continue pushing the definition of "basketry"; to increase the complexity of my work; to stimulate the imagination of the viewer; and to create beauty."

While a teenager in Southern California, Sally started collecting baskets - always searching the local shops for the most unusual ones, never thinking about where they came from. Years later, now an adult living in Michigan, she happened upon a new craft shop announcing "Basket Classes". For Sally it was a life-altering moment - the instant realization of her life long love! Not only would she have fun learning how to make baskets; with her art background, she could create very unusual ones. Adapting the traditional basketry weaving techniques she learned with her imagination and creative interests, Sally developed her own peerless art form. The innovation and artistic expression of Sally's work has been recognized with many awards. Most recently:
